A post harvest update from Reyneke Wines

The hum of the press has finally fallen silent here at Reyneke Wines. On Wednesday, we coaxed the very last drop of red wine from this year's grapes, marking the official close of another vibrant wine grape harvest. A grand total of 182 tons of beautiful grapes have passed through our hands, a testament to the earth's generosity and the tireless efforts of our team.

Now, as the last of the reds settle comfortably into their tanks, a new energy fills the cellar. Our focus shifts to the next chapter: nurturing these young wines towards bottling and preparing others for their moment in the glass.

And out in the vineyards, even as one cycle concludes, another begins. You'll find our vineyard team hard at work planting the poles that will support the new vines we'll welcome to the farm later this year – a promise of future vintages.

"The 2025 vintage was shaped by a late but abundant winter, with record rainfall in July helping to restore soil moisture ahead of the growing season. The mild conditions that followed, with minimal heat spikes and little rain, ensured healthy vineyards with low disease pressure. A cooler spring led to later budbreak and flowering, but ripening progressed steadily under moderate temperatures. Yields were slightly higher than expected, likely thanks to the cold, wet winter, yet quality has remained high. Harvest started later than usual but ran smoothly, and early indications suggest a vintage with excellent fruit intensity and bright, fresh acidity." - Barbara Melck, winemaker.
